Cheshire: Strawberry Festival

Description: Every summer for more than 80 years, thousands of people from Cheshire and surrounding communities converge on the historic Church Green to enjoy the time-honored tradition of the Cheshire Strawberry Festival and Craft Fair. It features naturally sweet, farm fresh strawberry shortcake with lots of whipped cream. In addition, there are hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, and other yummy treats.

An integral part of the festival is an Arts and Crafts Fair which features more than 30 juried artisans and crafters providing wonderfully handcrafted items of all shapes and sizes. Businesses and organizations of all types are also here at the Community Expo to introduce festival guests to their product, service, and/or cause.

This family-friendly event is fun for everyone from toddlers to seniors. Attractions include: inflatables, toddler games, face painting/henna, pony rides, and a raffle. Live music serves as a backdrop for this great community event.

And next door at the Cheshire Historical Society, there are a number of events during the annual Connecticut Open House Day with free hands on activities and workshops will go through the day, including colonial carpentry and stone tools seminars. The 46th Antiques & Collectibles Sale brings in an eclectic mix of dealers with nostalgic items for sale. The Society is also offering free docent led tours of their 1785 house museum.
