Westport: Public Night Observing

Description: WAS hosts free Public Astronomy Nights every clear Wednesday evening (clear skies only) from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Observatory at 182 Bayberry Lane in Westport. Trained volunteers offer guided tours of the night sky through the Society's telescopes. During the summer, near the solstice, we strongly recommend not arriving until it gets dark. To confirm if we'll be open, please check our website which will be updated by 4:30pm every Wednesday. Visitors may view the Moon, planets, stars, nebula and galaxies through the massive and recently upgraded 25 inch Obsession Dobsonian 'the largest telescope available for public use in the state of Connecticut ' or through WAS's 12 inch Newtonian housed under the observatory dome.
