9:00am [9:00am] Guilford: Performing Arts Festival
The biennial Guilford Performing Arts Festival was started in 2017 as a way to enliven the Connecticut shoreline with almost a week of live music, dance and dramatic presentations, showcasing some of the region's great artistic talent along with national "marquee" acts. The 2019 festival presents 70 live shows in 13 venues, mostly on and around the historic Guilford Green. There will also be public and in-school performing-arts workshops and an arts-based community-service project. A big top/main-stage tent on the Green will serve as the center of gravity, with performances taking place simultaneously throughout town: in churches, shops, restaurants, schools, historic homes, museums and community buildings. Whatever your interest, there's likely to be something for you: classical, chamber, choral music and opera; straight-ahead, fusion, Latin, big band and swing jazz; blues, folk, bluegrass, country, rock and klezmer music. Ballet and contemporary dance. Dramatic theater, Broadway, cabaret, poetry, literary readings and storytelling. Circus acts and buskers. Workshops and master classes. Hands-on drumming and music-making. Events for kids.

[10:00am] Branford: Mini-Maker Table
Join us every Friday and Saturday for a mini-maker project from our MakerLab! Every month we will feature a quick project or new piece of equipment to mess around with. The results may have you leaving with something to physically take home OR just the satisfaction that you were able to create a circuit, power on an Arduino or thread a sewing machine. The projects are easy, meant for all ages and 100% drop-in. It is just up to you to find out which floor we are featuring the project on and drop on by. Registration for this table is not required just come ready to tinker, play and create!
