  Litchfield County: Heritage Walks
Family-oriented, interpretive walks, offered in partnership with the region's historic, cultural, and outdoor recreation organizations and the National Park Service. Local historians, naturalists, and environmentalists lead participants on explorations through historic estate gardens and town districts, behind-the-scenes cultural site tours, nature walks, trail hikes, and tours of many of the industrial-site ruins that were once thriving local industries. There will also be Native American and African history walks, a canoe paddling trip on the Housatonic River and a bike touring ride on scenic country roads. Activities include horse drawn hayrides, petting zoo, bingo, gift basket raffles, face painting, homemade baked goods, seasonal plants, farmers market and much more. Great music and food all day long. New this year is the "Bungee Run" for kids!!

Itís a community tradition you donít want to miss. Every year on the first weekend after Labor Day, St Peterís Church holds its annual Apple Festival. Craft vendors from all over the Northeast set up tents on the historical Monroe Green to sell everything from doll clothes to jewelry to woodcrafts.
