Description:
Skate for free 7-days-a-week at the Winterfest Hartford rink on the east side of Bushnell Park near the Pump House. Come after work, on your lunch break or as a part of a trip downtown to see some of the cityís cultural treasures. Donít have your own skates? Visit the Skate Shack next to the rink for free skate rentals until 7:15, 45 minutes before the rink closes. [2:00pm] Hartford: First Night
Description:
First Night is a celebration of the New Year through the arts. It is an alcohol free, family-friendly, public celebration that marks the passage from the old year to the new with art, ritual and festivity. The day is a multicultural, artistically unique, with countless professional musicians, artists, performance groups and exhibits that inspire thousands of people of all ages to attend each year. Itís also an affordable way for everyone to ring in the New Year. The day includes two spectacular fireworks shows at 6 p.m. and midnight in Bushnell Park that can be seen throughout the city by thousands of residents and visitors. ****PLEASE NOTE!***** Some First Night activities are free, and some require purchase of a paid wristband. [4:30pm] New Haven: Luminary Walk
Description:
Dress for the weather to walk the park's paths lit by hundreds of lanterns. Refreshments provided in the Carriage House. Wreaths and decorations for sale. Enter at Upper Cliff Street and Edgehill Road gates. Weather permitting.
