[10:00am] Branford: Mini-Maker Table
Description:
Join us every Friday and Saturday for a mini-maker project from our MakerLab! Every month we will feature a quick project or new piece of equipment to mess around with. The results may have you leaving with something to physically take home OR just the satisfaction that you were able to create a circuit, power on an Arduino or thread a sewing machine. The projects are easy, meant for all ages and 100% drop-in. It is just up to you to find out which floor we are featuring the project on and drop on by. Registration for this table is not required – just come ready to tinker, play and create!

[10:00am] Hartford: Valentines for Kids
Description:
Instead of buying your Valentine’s Day cards this year, come to CHS on Free First Saturday to create old-fashioned, hand-made Valentines! Get inspired by Valentines from long ago, then use your creativity to make Valentine cards to give to your friends and family. All supplies will be provided, but families may also bring their own supplies. This drop-in program is free and open to the public, and great for all ages. For more information, please contact Corinne Swanson at (860) 236-5621 x222 or email corinne_swanson@chs.org. Thanks to Berkshire Bank for their support of this program.

Description:
Ice harvested from Bantam Lake was used for refrigeration throughout the year. Begin at the museum with a visit to the Ice House display, then head outdoors for a walk down the Lake Trail to visit the old ice house ruins. The program culminates with our own “Cut-Ups” Jeff Greenwood, James Fischer, and Gerri Griswold demonstrating how ice was cut and moved using the same tools and methods. Dress for the weather. We will be walking and standing on Ongley Pond for extended periods of time. Wear warm boots and prepare for wind and sun. Hot beverages and treats will be provided to fortify you.
